If you're running from the extracted zip, make sure for each file you follow the following steps:
  • Open Windows Explorer
  • Browse to extract directory
  • Right click a file
  • Select Properties
  • Click "Unblock"
  • Click "Ok"
Follow the same procedure for every file and then trying starting up Corefig again. It's annoying, but it fixed this issue for me.

Ugh, that's why it pays to read documentation carefully. I completely missed that part. Thanks for the quick reply and the tip. This project has helped me a lot recently.

Created Issue: Firewall Settings not shown correctly - enhance / bug [909]

Hi,
Just installed v1.1 of this tool on Hyper-V 2012 Core.
Works great but I wanted to turn all the firewall options OFF (Domain, Private and Public networks) as i'm only using it on a test environment that has limited access.
Obviously I went to the Firewall section of this tool (Control Panel | Firewall | Firewall Settings) and clicked all the radio buttons to turn off each location.
Once applied the statuses still showed a green tick shield and the settings stayed on the 'Turn on' radio button.

I think they actually worked though (I went in an used 'netsh advfirewall set domainprofile state off' to turn that off - I should use powershell but...).
If you look at the Firewall status against the green shield they go from Enabled: True to Enabled: False (or vice versa)... it's the only way to actually see it's worked.

Additionally, I notice that if you choose to expand each network shield using the downarrow button, you can only show two at a time, not all three...

Is it possible to implement a Red, crossed, shield and ensure the radio buttons reflect the status too?

Kind Regards
Andy

And a pic of the shields showing green even though they are off.
Only allowed one attachment for some reason...

Enabling, disabling, and display fixed in 1.1.1.

The display issue will have to wait. All three settings can't be displayed at once due to windows size limitations. I don't really like the way that dialog looks at all and am planning an entire revamp in 2.0.

I am having a problem getting corefig running. I did unblock the file and unzipped on a Win12k server. Then opened Explorer and copied the uncompressed files to C:\corefig on the remote Hyper-V machine.

I ran the setup script but the GUI does not come up. When I try to run corefig.ps1 gives an Execution error.

I ran Set-ExecutionPolicy RemoteSigned and still get the below. If I change it to Unrestricted Corefig opens after I confirm with R - Run once, but it asks again for each script I click on. Did I do something wrong in this process?

Thanks,

Todd

PS C:\Corefig> .\corefig.ps1
.\corefig.ps1 : File C:\Corefig\Corefig.ps1 cannot be loaded. The file
C:\Corefig\Corefig.ps1 is not digitally signed. The script will not execute on

Hi Todd,
These scripts can currently operate only on the local computer. They were designed to be run directly from the Hyper-V Server or Windows Server Core console -- or, more correctly, they were not designed to operate on anything other than the local computer. You'll need to be at the Hyper-V system itself in order for this to work.

I am running them from RDP.

I think I have it working. I was copying the entire folder over to the Hyper-V machine rather than creating the folder there and copying the files into it.

In any case I have it working on one of the servers. I will test on the other two and let you know.

Thanks,

Todd

I have it working on all three servers. Not sure what the problem was, may have been the way I was doing the copy.

Thanks for the quick response.

Awesome, glad you got it going. I was stumped at "confirm with R - Run once" because I haven't seen that before.

I try to run Corefig in my x230 notebook with i7 3520m, windows 8 pro 64bit.

It keep telling me failed to enable the feature. Return code: 740

I also tried to run Microsoft .NET Framework Repair Tool, but the Corefig still NOT working.

Are you starting it with "Start_corefig.wsf" or "POWERSHELL .\COREFIG.PS1"? If you haven't already, try the latter.
